Manchester Arena Explosion: At least 19 killed in possible suicide blast and about 50 injured at a pop concert

Manchester : Manchester Arena Explosion: After reports of at least one explosion at a pop concert in the city of Manchester on Tuesday, British Police has released a statement saying "a number of confirmed fatalities". The cops have asked people to avoid the area till further information. Ambulances were spotted rushing to the spot.

Local law enforcement authorities reportedly told NBC News that at least 20 people had been killed. According to security forces in the northern English city, the area has been evacuated while authorities investigate the blasts, Efe news reported.

First unconfirmed report about explosion came shortly after 2145 GMT.

Emergency services and numerous ambulances were dispatched to the stadium area, where some 20,000 people were on hand to see Grande perform.

News Agency AFP spoke with Suzy Mitchell, whose flat is opposite the venue. She explains, "(I) just heard a huge bang from my bed, came out to the front of my apartment and everyone was running away in big crowds."

However, there are also several media channels who are claiming nothing less than two explosions. 

Train services to and from Manchester Victoria Station - located under the Arena - had been canceled.

"Emergency services are dealing with an incident near Manchester Victoria, resulting in all lines being closed," operator Northern Railway wrote on its website.

American singer Ariana Grande was hosting a pop concert in the Arena when an explosion was heard.

EmeTrain service was suspended at Manchester's Victoria Station, which is next door to the stadium, and all transport lines were reportedly cut by the authorities after the incident.

Although the explosions sparked screaming and panic among the concert crowd, a spokesman for the singer said she was not hurt.

Grande is on tour touting her 2016 album "Dangerous Woman". The tour was launched on February 3 in Arizona, US.

Scheduled stops on the tour include -- Belgium, Poland, Germany, Switzerland and France, then heading to Latin America in the summer with performances in Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Costa Rica, Mexico and continuing to Asia with concerts in Japan, Thailand, The Philippines, New Zealand, Australia and other nations.
