New Delhi : Do you aim to become scientist in your near future? Are you looking for an astronaut training program? If so, then get yourself enrolled in Space Center University in Houston. The program has been introduced for middle school to high school students. It welcomes interested students’ from different parts of the world. If you are among them then take a look at the complete details mentioned here.

The training program was introduced way back in 2000 and since then, it brings students from around the world to Houston, every year. It is a five-day program held at Space Center Houston for middle school as well high school students. By enrolling the training session, students get exposure to the different fields of science, technology, engineering and math that could help them to get a job at NASA one day. They can conduct experiments at the Johnson Space Center and even get a chance to scuba dive.

‘The diving experience is the best way to show them what it’s like to be an astronaut — which is the goal of the whole program’, said Dave Brown, program coordinator.

Space Center in Houston, team up with visitors speaking different languages.

“It’s exciting to see the growth of the program,” said Kaci Heins, the education manager at Space Center Houston’s museum. “We’re trying to inspire the next generation of explorers early on by showing them this is exactly what they do across the street.”

Along with building rockets, habitats and scuba diving, students also get chance to meet an astronaut and tour NASA’s Houston facilities, such as Mission Control and the Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory.

Previously, the five-day program was limited to students’ ages 15-18 and available 50 weeks of the year, though officials usually fill only 26-28 weeks. The programs for 11 to 14 year olds were added this year with activities tailored to a younger audience.
