Top B-schools compete in MDI's annual fest Imperium

Gurugram : The annual sports, cultural and management festival of the prestigious Management Development Institute (MDI) Gurugram – Imperium 2017 – brought together the ace minds of the management world for 72-hour non-stop mega event

The festival, held from 10-12 of November, gave students a chance to develop themselves holistically with adequate exposure to diverse skill sets under the theme ‘Challenge the status quo’. With the event, MDI has been successful in bringing to the fore - future managers' passion, determination and intellect and come up with new and innovative ideas through a series of games and events that tested the participant at a conceptual and implementation levels.

Imperium, the flagship management event of MDI, is an effort to bring together under one roof some of the brightest young minds from the top B-Schools across the country.  This year’s event saw the participation of 400+ students from India’s top B-schools, including SRCC Delhi, IIM Lucknow, IMI Delhi, IIM Kashipur, FMS Delhi, BIMTEC, NMIMS, MICA and JBIMS amongst others.

The festival was inaugurated by Major General Jagatbir Singh, VSM - Director General, Resettlement, who emphasized the need to leverage the benefits of the technologically advanced age in which we live. He also spoke about the importance of physical strength and mental agility.

The three-day event witnessed several cultural programs like musical band performance by Sufi group Tarkash, case-study competitions, street plays, etc. The most popular event of the show was the stand-up comedy act by Karunesh Talwar, the former actor and writer of AIB, the Mumbai-based popular comedy sketch group.

This flagship event of MDI, with its variety of management events and on the spot games, provided the opportunity to build networks, shape managerial skills and utilize classroom theories into practice all combined with tonnes of fun and entertainment.

The activities comprised competitive case study competitions across various management domains such as Leadership, Marketing, Operations, Strategy, etc. and initiating discussions with think-tanks and events held for corporate executives.

Among the many winners of the cultural events were Philip, Sri Venkateswara College (Solo Dance), Panache, SRCC (Group Dance), Mallika Sharma, JP Institute of IT (Campus Princess) and Moksh, Sri Aurbindo College (Street Play).

The gold medals for football, snooker and volleyball were swept by home teams of MDI Gurgaon while MDI Alums and BIMTEC put up a great fight in all three games.

Management games were conducted by academic clubs such as the Marquity, Monetrix, HRDirection, IMPulse, Strategist, ThinC as well as flagship events such as Beyond Karma, Phalanx and Nautica.
