New Delhi : After the sudden demise of legendary actor Sridevi, Madhuri Dixit Nene had been approached to play the role initially meant for Sridevi in Shiddat. Karan Johar had planned the movie with Sridevi, but all his hopes devastated by actress' sudden death.

Sources reported that Karan Johar was so shattered by his friend Sridevi’s untimely death that he was about to cancel his upcoming movie Shiddat. In the meantime, Madhuri Dixit Nene was then approached to play the role, meant for Sridevi in the film.

The report was confirmed by Sridevi's elder daughter Janhvi Kapoor. It has been clear that the Dhak Dhak girl ‘Madhuri’ will walk in the foot step of the Bollywood Chandni. Well, Shiddat will be directed by  Abhisek Varman.

Janhvi Kapoor is now shooting for her debut film Dhadak, which is an upcoming romantic movie under the direction of Shashank Khaitan. She, in her Instagram account wrote: "Dad, Khushi and I are thankful to Madhuriji for now being a part of this beautiful film."

"Shiddat was going to star Sridevi, Sanjay Dutt, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt as the lead characters. It was to be directed by Abhisek Varman, who directed Hasee Toh Phansi for Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. This would have been Sridevi's first film with Dharma Productions since Gumrah, which also starred Sanjay Dutt.”  as mentioned earlier in Deccan Chronicle.

Besides, Shiddat will bring back the popular Bollywood Jodi ‘Alia and Varun’ after Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania. Both the films were also directed by Abhishek Varman.

Shiddat is a joint project between Dharma productions, Fox Star Studios and Sajid Nadiadwala. Leading designer Manish Malhotra will design the costumes for the film. The movie is expected to be released in the early days of 2019.

Sources confirmed that Janhvi will do her first photoshoot March 20 morning with Vogue.

"Although Janhvi's first magazine cover shoot with her mother was for People magazine, she was really looking forward to this Vogue cover as this would mark her foray into films. It's like her mother passing on the acting baton to her," a close friend of Janhvi was quoted as saying by Pinkvilla.
