CM's quartet works to decide opposition nominee

New Delhi : Working against Congress in more than one ways, the quartet of Chief Ministers, apart from reaching Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, discussed strategy to elect Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, concluding the opposition nominee will not be from the Congress.

After discussing all permutation and combinations it has been learned that the quartet is likely to favour candidate from Biju Janta Dal.

The Congress currently have 51 members in the Rajya Sabha, which is second highest after BJP's 69. But, it looks like regional parties are in no mood to pass the benefit to Congress.

It was no coincidence that Telugu Desam Party MPs at Andhra Bhavan, where the quartet met, were already ready with printouts of Opposition and ruling party numbers. 

According to sources, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had spoken on phone earlier and planned to discuss the figures when they meet.
