Bengaluru : Adding to worries is an insect that has been found in the food served by Karnataka government's subsidised Indira canteen that provides breakfast for Rs 5 and lunch and dinner at a cost of mere Rs 10 per serving.

A video has been shared on the social media platform, showing an insect crawling in the food plate.

The video, shared on Facebook page ‘Fight for Right’, captioned the video in Kannada language which reads,”Adding cockroaches to food, Indira Canteen is serving non-veg to people.”

Post incident, the health officials of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) have claimed that it is a deliberate attempt by some youths to degrade the image of the canteen.

As per the reports of The Hindu,  officials have filed a complaint with the Kamakshipalya police against a patron identified as Hemanth Kumar and four of his associate, after verifying the CCTV footage.

“It seems to be a deliberate attempt to defame the canteen. We have submitted the footage to the cybercrime police as well so that they determine the facts. But we are ready for any probe,”Mayor R. Sampath Raj told the daily.

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi had inaugurated the canteen in August this year.
