Karnataka Floor Test: Section 144 imposed in Mangalore

Bangalore : Section 144 has been imposed in Mangalore as Karnataka Assembly gets ready for a floor test on Saturday.

Supreme Court ordered a floor test after JD(S)- Congress alliance claimed that they are sure BS Yeddyurappa would lose while the latter insisted he was sure of proving his majority.

Meanwhile, Congress has filed a petition against Governor's decision to appoint KG Somaiah as the pro tem speaker. The hearing on the petition is likely to take place at around 10:30 AM.

The floor test remains interesting as the court junked Attorney General KK Venugopal’s suggestion of conducting it through a secret ballot. The court also instructed Yeddyurappa not to take any policy decisions till the floor test and restrained him from nominating an Anglo-India member.

BS Yeddyurappa, on the other hand, is 100 per cent sure of winning the floor test.

"We will abide by the Supreme Court verdict...we have got 100 per cent support and cooperation to prove the majority," Yeddyurappa told media persons soon after the apex court gave directions for floor test on Saturday.

"Amidst all these political games, we will prove our majority tomorrow. We will obey the Supreme Court order," said Yeddyurappa, who faces an uphill task rustling up the 111 MLAs required to pass muster.
