New Delhi : Rahul Gandhi has secured bright prospects of being the future Prime Minister of India, claimed a survey. According to the India Today Mood of the Nation (MOTN) poll, Rahul Gandhi emerged as the Opposition leader best suited to be an alternative to Narendra Modi in 2019 Lok Sabha Elections.

Over 12,000 people had participated in the survey. Rahul Gandhi fetched 46% votes, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee secured second place with a distant 8% votes.

P Chidambaram of the Congress and Rahul Gandhi's sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra came next with 6 per cent votes each. Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal followed next with 4 per cent votes each.

On the lines of religion, Rahul Gandhi got 47 percent Muslims and 45 per cent Hindus voting in favour of him. Rahul Gandhi got maximum 56 per cent support from South India followed by 52 per cent in West India. In North India, 36 per cent of those favouring an alternative to PM Modi described Rahul Gandhi as their choice.

Rahul Gandhi's popularity as an alternative to PM Modi has increased by 14 per cent from 32 per cent in February 2016 MOTN poll. His popularity has been oscillating over the last six MOTN polls.
