Sunday trains to get free food, condition applied

New Delhi : Passengers travelling on Sunday via Indian Railways are likely to get free meals but only under a certain condition.

Indian Railways is planning a mega block on Sundays to revamp railway signalling and tracks which may delay trains on the route. In order to compensate the extra travel time, the authorities have planned to provide free meals and water to the passengers.

The scheme will be restricted to passengers with a reserved seat on the train; while passengers travelling under unreserved category will not be getting the benefit as of now.

What is Mega Block?

Mega Block by Indian Railways is an attempt to ensure that trains do not get late on their regular schedule. Railway authorities have decided Sunday as the day for mega block under which most maintenance part will be done. This process will continue for at least one year.
