Video: Devotees in Hyderabad crush social distancing norms for Tirupati laddu sale
Hyderabad : More than 1 lakh special Tirupati laddus were being sold at a discounted rates and people thronged to get hands on them, crushing all social and physical distancing rules prescribed by the government during the coronavirus time.
Tirupati laddus, considered a sacred offering of the Sri Venkateswara temple in Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh were being sold at a subsidized rate of Rs 25.
Since the temple was closed since March 25, around 1.35 lakh laddus were sent to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam in Hyderabad’s Himayatnagar area, of which 1.10 lakh were sold within two days after sales began on Sunday, TheNewsMinute reported.
According to a report by NDTV, devotees did not care about the mandatory rules and regulations to avoid coronavirus. Soon after that the local authorities stepped in and took hold of the situation.
