New Delhi : Not exercising much because of after workout body pain? Well, beetroot turns out to be the superfood that can help you in solving the problem while you can sweat as much as you can without worrying about soreness.

According to the researchers at University of North Umbria beetroot can replace energy drinks and protein bars snacks post an intense exercise.

The root vegetable comes with many claimed health benefits, especially for the body and brain, research shows that it also helps muscles recover after intense workouts.

The research was conducted on a sample of 30 fit individuals in the age bracket of 18-28, who work out atleast twice in a week.

Dr. Tim Clifford who led the study claimed that three days of consuming the higher beetroot juice dose enhanced participants. Those in the beetroot juice group jumped an average of 18 percent higher than those in the placebo group two days after completing the exercise bout. Both beetroot groups saw reduced soreness and the food could be useful for those with little time between exercise sessions.
