Run to quit smoking quickly: Research

New Delhi : Another benefit of running is attached to faster quitting on cigarettes. A new research in mice reveals the positives underlining exercise's protective effect against nicotine dependence and withdrawal.

According to findings in the study, the urge to have nicotine drops heavily with every day running habit.

"The findings support the protective effect of exercise preceding smoking cessation against the development of physical dependence, which may aid smoking cessation by reducing the severity of withdrawal symptoms," said senior author Dr. Alexis Bailey, of St. George's University of London.

The findings from the study have been published in the British Journal of Pharmacology.
