Eco-Friendly Ganesha Chaturthi in Chennai: 7,000 banana flowers used to make idol

New Delhi : People across the nation seem to be conscious about the nature. Keeping in mind the Eco-friendly celebration theme for Ganesh Chaturthi 2018, native in Chennai has made an idol of Lord Ganesha using banana flowers. Around 7,000 banana flowers were used to build the 10-feet idol which took around 10 days to construct.

The elephant-headed Ganesha idol is constructed in a seated position with a swastika sign on his hand. People across the region are gathering in large numbers to see the unique idol and appreciating the concept as well. Devotees are clicking selfies, making videos and sharing on the social media network. 

In Maharashtra too, Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with great significance. This year, many idols have been created using clay and other degradable materials.

In Bengaluru, Sathya Sai trust made a Ganesh idol using sugarcane. After the pooja, the sugarcane which is used to make the idol will be distributed in the public.

Likewise, devotees across India celebrate the festival with great excitement. From making sweets to performing dance/song/drama, each day brings unlimited joy.

Ganesh Utsav is celebrated for 10 days and the last day marks the immersion also called Visarjan of the lord's idol.
