Scientists identify structuring of universe for the first time

New Delhi : Researchers have successfully managed to identify structuring of the universe for the first time in history via quasars, the National Astronomical Observations (NAOC) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences announced on Monday.

The researchers of eBOSS, the international group which runs the biggest ongoing spectroscopy survey in the, studied quasars, the high luminous active galactic nucleus which is located about 6.8 to 10.5 billion light-years from Earth to unravel the effect of gravitational force on cosmological levels.

Redshift distortion refers to a special three-dimensional cluster mode formed by stars under the effect of gravitational potential, and is considered one of the most important probes in researching gravitation on the cosmological level due to its direct correlation with gravitation.

The signals which have been discovered now are believed to have formed during a time when Universe was one third of its current size, said a report published by the eBOSS group on the finding.

Launched in 2014, eBOSS has attracted research institutes from a number of countries, including the NAOC.

The research team has earlier discovered Baryonic Acoustic Oscillations (BAO) measurements, which included the regular, periodic fluctuations in the density of the visible normal matter of Universe, using the quasars in May 2017.

Researchers have confirmed the feasibility of cosmology studies using quasars and are planning to extend their research to emission line and luminous red galaxies in 2019.
