IIT Kharagpur wins cyber security education award: Congratulations

New Delhi : The esteemed Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur takes pride to announce that it has won the prestigious DSCI Excellence Award 2018 for cyber security education.

The award was presented by the Data Security Council of India (a body set up in order to protect data by NASSCOM), at the Annual Information Security Summit 2018.

Also, the IIT Kharagpur was felicitated for its focused curricula and research work in cryptography, hardware security, cyber security, Internet of Things (IoT) security, and network security.

Focusing on the achievement, the director of IIT Kharagpur said, "Our research and coursework in cyber security, network security and cryptography are targeted towards delivering the necessary technologies and also creating leaders in research, industry, and governance, " said Professor Partha Pratim Chakraborty.

A number of research ventures led by Professor Debdeep Mukhopadhyay at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Kharagpur were primarily considered for this award, reported The KGP Chronicle

The ventures are:

  • The Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO)-funded projects on developing lightweight protocols for authenticating IoT nodes
  • IC reverses engineering and the Trojan detection
  • DST-funded 'Swarnajayanti' project on secure authentication protocols for smart grids.
