Earth as a point of light from Saturn's Icy Rings in NASA's picture

Washington : NASA has released a new image of earth clicked from Saturn's Icy Rings, where it can be seen only as a point of light.

The image has been clicked by NASA's Cassini spacecraft from the distance of 870 million miles from the icy rings of Saturn.

In the zoomed version of the image, earth's natural moon can also be spotted. Although far too small to be visible in the image, the part of Earth facing Cassini at the time was the southern Atlantic Ocean, said NASA in a statement.

The release further added that the Cassini-Huygens mission is a cooperative project of NASA, ESA (European Space Agency) and the Italian Space Agency. NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a division of Caltech in Pasadena, California, manages the mission for NASA’s Science Mission Directorate, Washington. JPL designed, developed and assembled the Cassini orbiter.
