North Korea claims advanced thermonuclear weapon aka hydrogen bomb

New Delhi : North Korea on Sunday claimed that they have developed a Hydrogen bomb or a more advanced thermonuclear weapon that comes with a 'great destructive power'. It is has been scheduled to be loaded on new intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) that is believed to have a range that can hit the United States.

The report by North Korea's official KCNA news agency comes amid regional tensions escalating over the dual test fire of ICBM ballistic missile in July this year.

ICBM ballistic missile comes with a range of 10,000 km that covers many parts of the mainland United States.

"The H-bomb, the explosive power of which is adjustable from tens kiloton to hundreds kiloton, is a multi-functional thermonuclear nuke with great destructive power which can be detonated even at high altitudes for super-powerful EMP (electromagnetic pulse) attack according to strategic goals," KCNA said.

"All components of the H-bomb were homemade and all the processes ... were put on the Juche basis, thus enabling the country to produce powerful nuclear weapons as many as it wants," KCNA quoted Kim as saying.
