Delhi : It has been announced by Maruti Suzuki that it would introduce its first electric car to the Indian market in FY2024–2025. The forthcoming electric SUV from Maruti Suzuki will be produced in Gujarat, the company has said. For this reason, the Suzuki Motor Gujarat (SMG) facility in Hansalpur will be modernised.

A 60 kWh battery pack with a 550 km range is what Bharti also said will power the EV. Additionally, the Indian-made EV will be sold on international markets. Based on the eVX concept that debuted at Auto Expo 2023, Maruti Suzuki will launch its first electric vehicle in 2023. Toyota has also shown its eVX variant. The Urban SUV is the name of the electric SUV concept.

Rahul Bharti, Maruti Suzuki's Executive Director (Corporate Affairs), states that there are now three factories in the Hansalpur facility: A, B, and C. An additional Rs 3,100 crore would be invested in a new factory to produce the EV.
