New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the much awaited Ram Temple in Ayodhya as he performed 'Pran-Pratistha' ceremony to consecrate Ram Lalla idol at the temple. Soon after returning from Ayodhya, PM announced a new solar scheme with a vision to power over 1 crore households with their own solar rooftop panels.

The scheme, named Pradhanmantri Suryoday Yojana, aims at installing affordable rooftop solar panels in Indian houses. With the help of this scheme poor and middle-class homes will be able to reduce their electricity bills as well as become self dependent with the solar energy to power their homes.

"The first decision I have taken after returning from Ayodhya is that our government will launch " Pradhanmantri Suryodaya Yojana " with the target of installing rooftop solar on 1 crore houses,' PM Modi said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

"This will not only reduce the electricity bill of the poor and middle class, but also make India self-reliant in the field of energy," he added.

Earlier, on Monday morning, PM Modi led consecration ceremony in Ayodhya and announced that "Lord Ram has arrived".
