PM Narendra Modi arrives in UAE amid chants – 'Modi, Modi', 'Abki Baar Modi Sarkar'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday landed in Dubai, UAE to attend the World Climate Action Summit during the United Nations Conference of the Parties on Climate (COP28). He was greeted with chants - 'Modi, Modi', 'Abki Baar Modi Sarkar' – by the Indian diaspora present during his arrival. Mr. PM was later treated with a glimpse of cultural dance.

The video of his warm welcome was shared on social media by news agency ANI. In the video, Indian diaspora can be seen welcoming Mr Prime Minister with big smiles and aforementioned chants. In another video, Mr. PM can be seen shaking hands with the diaspora. Watch video tweeted by the agency below:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his joy of meeting the Indian diaspora in UAE and wrote on Twitter: “Deeply moved by the warm welcome from the Indian community in Dubai. Their support and enthusiasm is a testament to our vibrant culture and strong bonds."


Prime Minister Modi is slated to participate in and deliver a speech during the inaugural session of the World Climate Action Summit, the high-level component of COP28, on Friday. Additionally, he plans to engage in three other high-level side events.

Ahead of his departure for Dubai, Modi expressed in a statement that "COP28 presents a chance to assess advancements made within the framework of the Paris Agreement and outline a trajectory for forthcoming actions on climate."
