Asia Cup 2023: India vs Pakistan match called off due to rain

New Delhi : All excitement went to the drain amid continuously drizzling water at Sri Lanka’s Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, where India vs Pakistan, a much anticipated battle, match was being played. The rain played a spoilsport since the beginning and resulted into wiping the game off without any result.

India had managed to score 266 runs, losing all their wickets in 48.5 overs during their innings. Unfortunately, no further play occurred following India's 266-run mark. Around 9 pm, it appeared that Pakistan was ready to commence their pursuit of the target, but just before the umpires could consult with the captains, rain once again made its presence felt. 

As the wait continued, persistent rains failed to budge down and the match was eventually called off at around 10:05 pm IST.

With match being called off, both the teams have now secured one one point each, Pakistan has secured a total of three points in two matches. India has one point now and they must beat Nepal in their next match on September 4 to move to the Super Four stage.
