New Delhi : The Indian Premier League (IPL) every year brings out a player that shines so bright that his future glows too, Rinku Singh is one such discovery in this tournament. Although he had already performed well in domestic cricket, it was not until that memorable night at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium that he became a household name in India.

During the match, Kolkata Knight Riders required 29 runs to win off the final over. Singh astonishingly hit five consecutive sixes off the last five balls, leading his team to an unexpected victory. While it brought an amazing joy and excitement for Singh, the outcome was quite different for the Gujarat Titans, particularly for Yash Dayal, who bore the brunt of Singh's onslaught.

Following Gujarat's win against the Mumbai Indians, captain Hardik Pandya revealed that Yash Dayal, the fast bowler, fell ill after the match. Pandya mentioned that Dayal's condition has deteriorated significantly since facing a barrage from Singh on April 9. Dayal lost around 7-8 kilograms of weight and is currently in poor health, likely due to a viral infection that was circulating during that period. Additionally, the pressure he faced during the match further exacerbated his condition. It is expected to take a considerable amount of time before Dayal can return to the field. Pandya expressed how the saying "someone’s loss is someone’s gain" applies here, highlighting the unfortunate consequences Dayal experienced.

In the previous edition of the IPL in 2022, Dayal, playing for the defending champions, had taken 11 wickets in 9 matches. However, his performance this year has not been up to par. In the three matches played so far, the 25-year-old failed to take a single wicket. Furthermore, the final over, which witnessed Singh's onslaught, significantly worsened Dayal's overall economy rate, surpassing 15 in this edition.
