Delhi : Vodafone-Idea (Vi) has revealed a list of Xiaomi phones that will enable 5G services. The telecommunications behemoth has disclosed that it has tested the upgraded network on a number of Xiaomi and Redmi phones. To allow Vi users to enjoy the most recent network, a software update will be distributed to eligible devices.

"This collaboration will enable Xiaomi and Redmi smartphone users to enjoy enhanced data experiences on Vi 5G once the operator launches the services," the telecom company said in a statement to ET. However, unlike Jio and Airtel, Vi has yet to launch 5G in any Indian city. Here's everything we know so far about the Vi 5G debut.

List of phones that are compatible with Vi 5G

The corporation has disclosed a list of products that are compatible with the 5G network. Xiaomi 13 Pro, Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G, Redmi 11 Prime 5G, Redmi K50i, Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G, Redmi Note 12 5G, Xiaomi 12 Pro, and Mi 11 Ultra are among these devices. Mi 11X Pro, Xiaomi 11T Pro 5G, Redmi Note 11T 5G, Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G, Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G, Mi 11X, Mi 10, Mi 10T, Mi 10T Pro, and Mi 10i are also on the list.

Airtel and Jio currently provide 5G service in hundreds of Indian towns

Airtel and Jio are well ahead of the competition in terms of offering 5G services to its clients. While the network is not yet as robust as 4G, users may begin testing 5G on compatible phones. Reliance Jio recently claimed that it has successfully rolled out 5G in 406 Indian cities, whilst Airtel provides 5G services in over 500 locations.

When will Vodafone and Idea introduce 5G in India?

The answer to this question remains unclear. According to reports, the telecom giant would implement 5G in the country by 2024. However, given that Vodafone-Idea has begun testing the newest network on a number of Xiaomi devices, there is a good probability that the telecom giant will soon introduce 5G in the nation. There are currently no official information on when Vi 5G will be available in various areas of India. The telecom has frequently stated that the service is still being tested and that subscribers would be alerted when 5G is available in India.
