Islamabad : Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has written to the country’s Chief Justice to allow him to be part of joint court proceedings via video conference link in cases lost against him. He claimed that there are people who are planning to kill him and it can be done if he deposes physically.

During an address to the nation on Monday, Imran Khan claimed that a death trap was laid out at the Federal Judicial Complex in Islamabad on Saturday, when he had appeared for a hearing in Toshkhana gift case. He said that around 20 namaloom afraad (unknown people) were present there with an intention to kill him.

He supported his claims with a video that he played to show how purported suspects were present in plain clothes at the judicial complex carrying plastic handcuffs. Imran Khan requested CJP to initiate an investigation on how these 20 people were allowed to enter the High security zone.

He reclaimed that if he is exposed like this often then it would not take long for such people to kill him.

There have been reports of unrest from parts of Pakistan as the law enforcement agency and PTI workers in Lahore and Islamabad clashed during the court appearances and attempts to arrest Imran Khan over the past week.

The cricketer-turned-politician has been booked in about 100 cases facing charges like terrorism, murder, blasphemy, attempted murder and treason. All these cases have been instituted against Imran Khan in less than one year.
