Air India offers hefty discounts on last-minute tickets

New Delhi : National carrier Air India announced hefty discounts on the last minute ticket bookings, giving a huge relief to passengers from heavy prices post grounding of Jet Airways.

Earlier, an Air India official told news agency PTI that the airlines will be giving straight 50% discount on the last minute bookings.

Air India has decided to sell the very last minutes inventory within three hours of departure at a "hefty discount," the airline said in a statement, without quantifying the discount.

The decision was taken after a commercial review meeting of the airline management at its headquarters on Friday.

In general, the airlines charge 40% more the amount of regular fares on the last minute tickets.

Now the last-minute travelers, especially those travelling for urgencies, can book tickets at much cheaper level, the airline added.

Tickets can be booked from its counters, on the website, on the mobile app, or through agents, the statement said.
