Bihar Gears Up to Become a Textile Hub – Vision Showcased at Gartex Texprocess India Expo

New Delhi : The Gartex Texprocess India Expo 2025, inaugurated at Bharat Mandapam on Thursday, has opened new avenues for India’s textile industry. The event was inaugurated by Union Minister for Housing & Urban Affairs, Shri Manohar Lal Khattar, with Shri Rakesh Sachan, MSME & Khadi Minister of Uttar Pradesh, as the Guest of Honour. Also present were Ms. Himani Gulati, Director of MEX Exhibitions Pvt. Ltd., and Shri Kundan Kumar, Resident Commissioner of Bihar.

Spanning three days, the expo features over 200 exhibitors and more than 600 brands, including several international players, highlighting the industry’s innovation and investment potential.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Manohar Lal Khattar said, “Indian textiles are known for their superior quality. However, high costs limit their reach to the masses. We must work towards enhancing technology, lowering production costs, and making designs more appealing. The goal should be to meet the needs of people from villages to cities, thereby making India self-reliant and globally competitive. Events like Gartex play a crucial role in making India a global textile hub by providing a platform for networking, technology exchange, sustainability discussions, and exploring new business models. In the coming years, India has the potential to lead the world in the textile sector, with states like Bihar and Uttar Pradesh serving as key economic drivers in this transformation.”

On the occasion, Shri Kundan Kumar, Resident Commissioner of Bihar, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to positioning Bihar as India’s next textile hub.

“Bihar offers abundant natural resources, skilled human capital, and robust policy support for the textile industry. Our priority is to position the state as an attractive investment destination to drive both industrial growth and employment generation. The Bihar government is working to provide a one-stop solution for investors and invites them to be a part of the state’s industrial growth story through the textile sector,” he said.
