Relief for students: Supreme Court vacates stay and allows counselling, admissions to IITs

New Delhi : The Supreme Court on Monday gave green signal to IIT JEE counselling across the nation, the apex body had put a stay on it over a petition claiming wrong allotment of bonus marks in the exam.

The candidates have been awarded 11 bonus marks for three ambiguous questions in IIT-JEE Advanced 2017 exam. Nearly, 1.7 lakh students had appeared for The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced, paper 1 and paper 2 conducted by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras on May 21.

Attorney General K K Venugopal, representing IITs, submitted an undertaking with a mention that such mistake will never be repeated in future. 

In future, there will be no bonus marks option under any circumstances.
