Bollywood veteran playback singer Mohammed Aziz passes away at 64

Mumbai : Veteran Bollywood singer Mohammad Aziz died in Nanavati Hosptial in Mumbai on Tuesday evening. He was 64. Mohammad Aziz started his musical career in Kolkata and then moved to Mumbai and made his debut with the 1984 Hindi film, Ambar. 

Aziz, 64, collapsed at the Mumbai Airport after deboarding from a Kolkata flight on Tuesday afternoon. He was rushed to the Nanavati Hospital in Vile Parle where he breathed his last a short while later. His body will be taken to his suburban Kandivali home.

Music composer Anu Malik gave him his big break in Amitabh Bachchan-starrerr Mard, in which he sang ‘Mard Taangewala’. The singer has lent his voice to over 2000 songs in Hindi, Bengali and Odia films.

Mohammad Aziz was working with all the top composers from Kalyanji-Anandji to Rajesh Roshan to Nadeem-Shravan.Songs like Teri Bewafai from Ram Avtar and the title track of Lal Dupatta Malmal Ka made him a popular name among the music lovers.

He has also sung several popular duets with Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, Anuradha Paudwal and Kavita Krishnamurthy.
