Mardaani 2: Rani Mukerji returns as tough cop - First Look

Mumbai : Actress Rani Mukerji has started filming for her upcoming movie Mardaani 2, which is a sequel to her 2014 critically acclaimed cop film.

In the movie she will be seen extending her character of a tough cop Shivani Shivaji Roy, Senior Inspector, Crime Branch. A new still from the set has been shared by the makers of the movie.

Shared by Yash Raj Films (YRF), the picture shows Rani dressed in a crisp white shirt, and a pair of basic trousers as a hint of worry can be seen on her face. Check out the picture here:

Directed by Gopi Puthran, the film has been slated to hit the silver screens by the end of this year.

Earlier, talking about coming back with the role of a female cop, Rani told the media, "Mardaani is and will always be extremely close to my heart. Right since its release, everyone has asked me time and again when I would be doing Mardaani 2 and I’m sure this announcement will come as a pleasant surprise to them all. Gopi has written an extraordinary script that we all love and I can’t wait to start shooting this film soon."
