Mission Mangal Trailer: Akshay Kumar and women army to take India to Mars on August 15

New Delhi : Trailer for Akshay Kumar's much awaited movie – Mission Mangal – has been released by the makers. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Vidya Balan, Nithya Menen, Sharman Joshi and Kirti Kulhari in the lead roles.

The film is based on true events telling how India made commendable achievements in space with the Mars Orbiter Mission.

The trailer begins with Akshay Kumar's voiceover, "There is no science without experiment." In the trailer, it is shown that how scientists give their everything to do impossible things.

The trailer ends with Akshay Kumar saying proudly, "Poori duniya se kaho, copy that!"; concluding with signature tune of Vande Mataram.

The Mars Orbiter Mission was launched from the Sriharikota space port on November 5, 2013, and placed itself into the Martian orbit on September 24, 2014 on its first attempt.

Though its mission life was expected to be six months, the satellite completed 1000 days in its orbit in June 2017 and even now contributes science data from Mars.

In an earlier tweet, Akshay revealed that he chose Mission Mangal specially for his daughter and children her age and to "familiarise them with the incredible true story of India's mission to Mars".



He had written, "For several years, Hollywood made movies and TV shows like Star Trek, Star Wars, Gravity etc. This inspired an entire generation of inventors, scientists and explorers. I have always wanted to be part of one such movie... A movie that inspires our future generations... One that celebrates imagination and curiosity."

"Mission Mangal is that film for me... A film that I hope, will inspire as much as it will entertain. Based on the incredible true story of India's mission to Mars, Mission Mangal is a film about ordinary people achieving the extraordinary... A story that proves that creativity, ideas and dreams have no limit... just like the sky! This Independence Day, the sky is not the limit," he added.

The film has been scheduled to release in theatres on August 15. It will be clashing with John Abraham's Batla House.
