This TV actor to star opposite Alia Bhatt in Bhansali’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’

Mumbai : One of the most awaited films of the year ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, has been making a lot of buzz ever since it was announced. 

According to reports, television star Shantanu Maheshwari, who made his name with hit shows like ‘Dil Dosti Dance’, ‘Fear Factor’ and many more has now bagged the lead role opposite Alia Bhatt in the film. 

The choreographer-actor is quite popular on the small screen and is now looking forward to making his entry into Bollywood.  Shantanu Maheshwari would be playing the character of Afsan in Gangubai Kathiawadi.

However, official confirmation from either of the sides involved is awaited.

Gangubai Kathiawadi is based on Hussain Zaidi's book 'Mafia Queens of Mumbai'. The drama will also reportedly feature Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi in pivotal roles.

Alia Bhatt's new movie has been written and directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and the story will revolve around Gangubai, the madame of Kamathipura’s famous brothel.  The makers will kick start shooting for the film very soon in Mumbai.
