New Delhi : On Wednesday, India registered a dramatic hike in the number of coronavirus cases with health ministry confirming 23 new cases - all in Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. With the new addition, the total number of coronavirus cases has gone to 29.

A 26-year-old Paytm employee who had recently visited Italy has been tested positive to the coronavirus, he is the second person in the national capital to be diagnosed with the virus.

In the fresh cases found in India, majority is of Italian tourists who had arrived in India for travel purpose.

The Paytm employee who has been tested positive to the coronavirus used to work in company's Gurgaon Office that has been closed since last 15 days. The employees have been advised to work from home. Paytm has also advised all team members who were in contact with the patient.

There are around 5000 employees working with PayTm in its Gurgaon and Noida office.

States join hands to combat COVID-19

While the coronavirus patients travelled through Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, the states have joined hands to ensure tracing of all people who had come in the contact of the patients and check them thoroughly.

The total number of people who came in their contact could be around 100.
