Ambulance driver rapes teen Covid-19 patient in Kerala, arrested

Kerala : An ambulance driver in Kerala has been arrested for allegedly raping a teen COVID-19 patient in his vehicle. The incident happened in Kerala's Pathanamthitta, about 100km north of capital Thiruvananthapuram, the police said.

According to the police officials, the incident happened on Saturday late night when the ambulance was taking two COVID-19 patients – one elderly woman and a teen girl – to different hospitals.

The ambulance first dropped the elderly woman to the hospital and then the 19-year-old girl was being transferred by the ambulance to a different hospital.

"Instead, the ambulance driver diverted the vehicle towards an empty ground and raped the young woman, the complaint stated according to the police.

The 25-year-old driver has been removed from the 108 ambulance service.

Further probe in the matter is underway.
