Any discussion on Kashmir will be done with Pakistan: India to US

New Delhi : India on Friday once again underlined that any kind of talks over Kashmir issue will be done only with Pakistan and reminded the US in "clear terms" that it is a bilateral issue.

India’s comment came one day after Donald Trump once again offered to mediate between India and Pakistan over the ongoing Kashmir crisis.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who is in Bangkok attending the ASEAN summit, tweeted that he had conveyed New Delhi’s intent to his US counterpart Mike Pompeo.

“Have conveyed to American counterpart @SecPompeo this morning in clear terms that any discussion on Kashmir, if at all warranted, will only be with Pakistan and only bilaterally,” Jaishankar wrote.

Donald Trump while answering a question at a presser in White House said, “If they wanted somebody to intervene and I spoke to Pakistan about that… I spoke frankly with India about it… if they wanted me to I would certainly intervene”.

Trump had earlier made a similar offer on June 22 in response to a public appeal from the visiting Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan in joint remarks at the White House.

India had then also denied the offer.
