'Bihar man beheading a result of land dispute, not Narendra Modi'

Darbhanga : Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Sushil Modi has clarified that the beheading of a man, allegedly because he named Times Square after Narendra Modi, is actually because of a land dispute.

"It is totally false that he was murdered over the naming of a chowk. It is a case of land dispute. The Modi chowk board was put up long back," said Sushil Kumar Modi, deputy Chief Minister of Bihar.

Nearly 40-50 men had attacked a 70-year-old BJP supporter with knife and hockey sticks, later beheaded him in the Darbhanga district of Bihar.

"As a senior citizen, my father went to them to explain the situation but he was beheaded with a sword. When my elder brother intervened, there was a murderous assault on him," Mr Tej Narayan told the media.

The cops have started their investigation in the matter and have also recorded statements of some of the witnesses at the incident site.

"There is an earlier land dispute. A lot of factors are there," said Mr Ahmed, adding that "investigations so far has not found any link with the recent bypoll results".
