New Delhi : Bihar marked a significant milestone in its energy sector journey with the inauguration of its pavilion at the India Electricity Summit 2026, where it is participating as the ‘Focus State’. The pavilion was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Energy Minister, Shri Bijendra Prasad Yadav, at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, setting the tone for the state’s strong and forward-looking presence at the global forum.
The event witnessed the presence of senior officials, including Shri Manoj Kumar Singh, Secretary, Energy Department, as Guest of Honour, and Shri Rahul Kumar, Managing Director, North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited. Their participation underscored the importance of the occasion and reflected the state’s commitment to advancing its energy agenda.
Located at Hall No. 2, Stand No. 2E51, the Bihar Pavilion has emerged as a major attraction at the summit. It presents a comprehensive view of the state’s progress in the power sector, highlighting key reforms, infrastructure development and investment opportunities under the ‘Powering Bihar’ initiative. The pavilion offers both a reflection of achievements and a clear articulation of the state’s future vision.
On the opening day, Bihar actively engaged in the summit through the inaugural session, pavilion walkthroughs and media interactions. The state’s participation in international ministerial discussions and CEO-level engagements further positioned it as an important voice in the global energy dialogue.
The engagement is set to deepen over the course of the summit. The second day will feature ministerial roundtables and investment-focused discussions, with participation from senior state officials and industry experts, including representatives from PwC. On the third day, Bihar will host direct interactions with prospective investors, providing detailed insights into its policies and project pipeline. The Energy Secretary will also address the media to outline the state’s policy direction and future roadmap. The summit will conclude with a closing session summarising key outcomes and deliberations.
At the summit, Bihar is showcasing four key pillars that define its evolving energy landscape. Pumped storage projects are being highlighted as a critical step towards ensuring grid stability and enabling greater integration of renewable energy. The Kajra solar project, coupled with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), reflects the state’s focus on clean and reliable power supply.
Bihar’s leadership in smart prepaid metering is also being presented as a model for enhancing transparency and empowering consumers. In addition, the proposed Power Museum in Patna aims to document and present the evolution of the state’s energy sector, making it accessible to the public.
These initiatives are supported by partnerships with leading industry players such as Greenko, L&T and Secure, demonstrating a blend of innovation, investment and technical capability.
Bihar’s participation at the India Electricity Summit 2026 goes beyond a formal presence. It reflects a clear intent to position the state as a dynamic and investment-ready destination in the energy sector, while strengthening its role in shaping the future of India’s power landscape.
