Black Buck killing: Salman found guilty, quantum of sentence shortly

New Delhi : Bollywood actor Salman Khan has been granted five years in jail after being found guilty in the black buck poaching case. He has also been imposed a penalty of Rs 10,000.

The other actors involved in the case - Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam Kothari - have been acquitted by the court.

Irked with the acquittal of other actors, Bishnoi community, committed to protect black bucks, has decided to appeal against the order.

As per court Salman Khan killed at least two black bucks in Bhagoda ki Dhani in Kankani village near Jodhpur on the intervening night of October 1-2, 1998, during the shooting of Hum Saath Saath Hain.

The actor was convicted under Section 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, which carries maximum punishment of six years and minimum one-year jail term.

Salman Khan and other actors had reached Jodhpur to hear the verdict on Thursday.
