New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a three-day visit to poll bound Gujarat, will be visiting Morbi on Tuesday. He is visiting their two days after a bridge over Machchhu river collapsed, killing more than 140 people.

On Monday, he chaired a high-level meeting in Gandhi Nagar to discuss the situation in Morbi. In the meeting it has been decided to observe state mourning for the victims of Morbi bridge collapse on November 2

Nine people have been arrested so far on charges of culpable homicide (not amounting to murder). Among the arrested are two managers of Oreva Group (Ajanta Manufacturing Pvt Ltd), the company which was looking after the maintenance and repair work of the bridge that collapsed.

The company has been taking care of the village since 2008.

Meanwhile, the US president Joe Biden also offered his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the incident.

"Jill and I send our deepest condolences to the families who lost loved ones during the bridge collapse in India, and join the people of Gujarat in mourning the loss of too many lives cut short. In this difficult hour, we will continue to stand with and support the Indian people", Biden tweeted.
