Watch: Case filed against Lalu Prasad over irregularities in Railway tenders

Patna : Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday registered a new case against former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and others for their alleged involvement in irregularities in awarding tenders for development, maintenance and operation of hotels at Ranchi and Puri, officials said. 

According to CBI official, the case is related to awarding of tender of the railway heritage hotels for development, maintenance and operation in 2006 to private companies.

In the same year, the hotels were transferred to the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).

The CBI also registered the case against Lalu's wife Rabri Devi, his son and Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tejaswi Yadav and former IRCTC Managing Director P.K. Goyal.

Lalu Prasad was Railways Minister between 2004-09.

Raids were carried out at over 12 places in Delhi, Gurugram, Patna, Ranchi and Puri.
