Deadly Nipah virus claims 2 more lives in Kozhikode Medical College

Kerala : Two people, suspected to be infected by Nipah Virus, have reportedly been found dead in Kozhikode Medical College hospital on Tuesday, 22 May.

The patients were admitted to the hospital in an isolated ward. Their samples have also been sent for the tests.

Earlier, reports of atleast 12 people getting killed due to the deadly virus had come from Kerala.

The Nipah virus spreads in humans after they consume fruits or date-palm sap contaminated by infected bats. Human to human transmission through body fluids is rare.

Before Kerala, the virus was first detected in West Bengal in 2001.
