Delhi fog: Over 300 flights delayed, 8 cancelled

New Delhi : With low visibility on the second consecutive day of the New Year, several flights are running either late or cancelled with many passengers stranded on the airport.

The MeT department has said that a similar fog situation will pertain till Wednesday.

Departures at Delhi airport were halted for two and a half hours on Monday morning, resulting in 300 delayed flights and eight cancellations. "Arrivals were happening intermittently between 7:30 AM and 10 AM, but departures were completely on hold during this time. 

The normal operation of departure and arrival was resumed only after 10 AM from all three runways.

Departures require visibility of at least 125 metres, while planes can land when visibility is below 50 metres if pilots are trained in the use of CAT IIIB.
