Fodder Scam: CBI Court to sentence Lalu Prasad Yadav today

Ranchi : A CBI Court in Ranchi will pronounce the quantum of sentence against Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and others for their connection in the fodder scam.

The court had deferred the sentencing till January 4 in the wake of the demise of advocate Vindeshwari Parsad.

The Ranchi special CBI Court had also summoned RJD leaders Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, Tejashwi Yadav and Manoj Jha over the contempt of court charges on January 23.

Manoj Jha dubbed the court's decision as 'shocking' and claimed that he never spoke anything against the judiciary.

“It is shocking because none of us uttered a single word against the judicial process or the judgment.” (Read complete timeline of the Fodder scam)

On December 23, the special CBI court convicted the RJD chief and 14 others in the Deoghar Treasury case of the fodder scam. In the same case, former Bihar chief minister Jagannath Mishra and six others were acquitted by the court.

However, Lalu Prasad Yadav will challenge the verdict in High Court.
