Fodder scam: Lalu Prasad Yadav moves Jharkhand High Court, seeks bail

Ranchi : RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav moved Jharkhand High Court on Saturday against conviction in a Fodder scam and also sought bail.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader’s advocate Chittaranjan Sinha said the court has agreed to hear their petition on January 19.

On January 6, Special CBI Court judge Shiv Pal Singh had handed over him a jail term of 3.5 years in the case pertaining to illegal withdrawal of Rs89.27 lakh from Deoghar treasury between 1991 and 1994.

On 30 September 2013, Lalu was held guilty in another case of illegal withdrawal of Rs37.70 crore from the Chaibasa treasury and sentenced for five years.

Apart from these two cases, Lalu Prasad Yadav is also accused in other three fodder scams.

The Fodder scam had caused a loss of Rs900 crore to the exchequer when he was the chief minister of undivided Bihar.
