Patna : Lalu Prasad Yadav has been awarded five years of jail term in the fifth and last fodder scam by a special CBI court.

Rs 139.35 crores were withdrawn from Doranda Treasury without making any verification.

After the revelation of fodder scam and false expense reports submitted by the government, then Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav was forced to step down from his post.

The court had found Lalu Prasad Yadav and 38 others guilty in the matter on last Tuesday.

Soon after the conviction, the politician was shifted to RIMS in Ranchi. He has earlier spent 14 years of jail term on other four fodder scams.

He was out on bail in those cases till Tuesday when he was again sent to jail after being convicted in Doranda treasury case.
