Govt. of Bihar assures no action against students involved in CJP protest

New Delhi/Patna : Government of Bihar has assured that they will not be taking any retaliatory legal action against the students involved in protest against alleged irregularities in NEET-UG paper leak before 6 PM on July 26. They also confirmed immediate actions and release of detainees.

In an official statement issued by Home Department, the government said that all students who have been detained or arrested in connection of protest before the deadline will be released immediately. Also, no further direct or indirect action will be taken against those.

This comes days after Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) took assurance in one of their demands that no legal action will be taken against the students, who took part in the protests.

It must be noted that the decision has been implemented immediately and cover all students protesting in Bihar against the irregularities in NEET-UG exams.

CJP announces legal aid for protestors

The CJP on Monday announced that it will launch a dedicated website to raise public contributions for a legal aid fund aimed at supporting people facing what it termed as wrongful legal action for participating in the recent protests.

"We will launch a website where people can, in good faith, contribute—even if it is Re 1—to help create a fund for those facing wrongful legal action after protesting for their rights," Rajya Sabha MP and senior advocate Kapil Sibal said.

Sibal said the legal assistance would be extended to affected individuals across the country, including states such as Maharashtra and Bihar.

CJP chief spokesperson Saurav Das said the party had consulted Sibal both before and after deciding to withdraw its nationwide protests on July 25, citing concerns that authorities could initiate legal action against individual protestors once the agitation concluded.
