India's own GPS system gets one step closer to launch
-
New Delhi : With ISRO launching its fifth satellite earlier today India has gone a step closer to launch its very own GPS system by the end of this year.
-
Two more satellites will be launched in coming days to ensure flawless connectivity and accuracy across Indian roads.
-
Four satellites have already been placed and are operating well from the skies.
-
India is in a position to launch the services but, ISRO doesn’t want to take any chances, with this service is likely to be made available by end of this year; after remaining two satellites are launched.
-
Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings to ISRO for successful launch of fifth satellite.
-
ISRO says the new system will come with an accuracy of less than 20 metres and will primarily focus 1500 Kms of the border region.
-
The system is likely to give tough competition to United States’ already available GPS system.
