India revokes MFN status to Pakistan post-Pulwama attack

New Delhi : India on Friday revoked the most favoured nation (MFN) status to Pakistan in a bid to convey strong message post Pulwama terror strike that killed over 40 Indian CRPF jawans in a IED blast.

The decision to revoke the MFN status to Pakistan was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in New Delhi early this morning.

The agenda behind the CSS meeting was to discuss security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Breifing the press about CSS meeting, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley talked about India having “incontrovertible evidence” against Pakistan to link it with Pulwama terror attack.

“The most favoured nation status granted to Pakistan stands withdrawn,” said Jaitley outside 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, emerging from the CCS meet, which was also attended by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval.
