J&K Floods: Omar Abdullah says he had no government during crisis

  • Jammu and Kashmir has now entered the seventh day when a massive flood had hit the state
  • "I had no government as the seat of the establishment was wiped out by the worst floods in over a century," said Omar Abdullah
  • Omar Abdullah is himself dealing with power and connectivity crisis at his residence
  • Mr Abdullah said for the first 36 hours he had no government to work for the relief operation
  • He later started operation from a six officer room
  • Jammu CM also stated his inability to contact some of his ministers whose whereabouts is still unknown
  • Centre has offered its help and is currently filling the gaps which state government was unable to fulfill
  • Around 80,000 people have been rescued, while thousands are still waiting for the help
  • Earlier, PM Modi had termed the situation as one of the national disaster.
