Midnight fire in Delhi market flames over half a dozen shops, no casualties

New Delhi : In a midnight fire at a Delhi market on Thursday, over half a dozen shops were destroyed by heavy flames, police and fire officials said. No casualties have been reported so far in the incident.

The temporary shops, comprising of pan shops and small eateries, were situated in the middle of Malviya Nagar market in south Delhi. 

Local residents in the area informed police and fire officials who took control over the fire after a half-an-hour battle.

The quick response and alert behaviour from fire brigade officials avoided a possible major accident.

The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.
