New guidelines for vaccination of international travelers

New Delhi : The ministry of health on Monday announced SOPs for the vaccination of people traveling internationally for education, employment & India’s contingent for the Tokyo Olympics. According to the newly issued guidelines, the CoWin certificate must be attached to the passport of such travelers.

"No other qualifying entries required in vaccination certificates, mention of vaccine-type as ‘Covishield’ is sufficient," Ministry of Health.

The ministry has also asked states to facilitate vaccination of people who have taken first dose of coronavirus vaccine and will travel abroad for education, employment or as part of India’s contingent for Tokyo Olympics, but whose planned travel dates fall before completion of 84 days.

On Monday, PM Narendra Modi announced that the Centre will be purchasing 75% of the coronavirus stocks from the manufacturers. The central government will be providing vaccines to the Centre.

PM Modi said private sector hospitals can continue to procure 25 per cent of vaccines, but their service charge would be capped at Rs 150 per dose over fixed price of the vaccine.
